In collaboration with a Senior Designer, I contributed to the project from concept through early construction documentation, supporting the development and refinement of the massing, façade strategy, courtyard expressions, and overall material palette. I produced detailed design materials, including 2D drawings, 3D imagery, diagrams, and presentation content that advanced and clearly communicated the architectural vision, helping convey the project’s unique narrative and design intent.
Located on K Street SW between Half Street and South Capitol Street, this Class‑A multifamily development introduces a contemporary residential presence alongside the existing Capitol Skyline Hotel. The building is anchored by a two‑story, structurally glazed jewel‑box lobby at its eastern end, while two‑story glass openings along the K Street façade illuminate ground‑floor amenity spaces and second‑floor units. Two north‑facing courtyards shape the interior experience: an active ground‑floor courtyard connected to fitness and amenity areas, and a quieter elevated courtyard featuring a bioretention basin and private terraces. The architecture is defined by simple rectilinear volumes and a cascading eastern massing that steps back at the 12th floor to create terraces, balconies, and a generous public plaza along South Capitol Street. An off‑white precast façade with charcoal metal accents, combined with curved high‑gloss aluminum bays, establishes a refined visual rhythm, while courtyard elevations of precast and dark brick masonry create a cohesive yet context‑sensitive expression that complements the adjacent hotel.
