I served as a Staff Architect supporting the team throughout the PUD process for 1701 H Street, focusing on the building’s exterior design. I refined the massing and façade expression and created 2D and 3D visuals that shaped the project’s architectural direction. I also produced the renderings and graphic materials for the city submission package, helping transform the early concept into a clear and cohesive PUD presentation. After approval, I supported the transition into SD and continued coordinating the design through the early Construction Documentation phase.
1701 H Street is a 142,000‑square‑foot mixed‑use residential development that strengthens the eastern end of the H Street corridor by transforming a long‑vacant lot into a vibrant destination with 180 new units and 15,000 square feet of retail. The building is composed of rectilinear volumes that shift from six to ten stories, allowing it to transition sensitively toward adjacent low‑density neighborhoods while establishing a strong urban presence at the main intersection. Its façades feature rhythmic, textured compositions—ranging from dark masonry with horizontal punched openings along H Street to a modular panelized system that wraps the block and supports an active retail frontage. An expansive rooftop with a clubhouse, pool, and lounge areas enhances resident amenities, while the overall design aligns with Washington, D.C.’s Comprehensive Plan and contributes a contemporary architectural expression to the evolving urban fabric.
