Assisted as a Staff Architect in collaboration with a Senior Designer, supporting the development of the two U‑shaped buildings in Phase I from schematic design through early construction documents. Responsibilities included advancing and refining the architectural massing and façade concepts—contributing directly to the development of the façade design strategy—as well as producing detailed 2D and 3D design information. Additionally, prepared high‑quality renderings and coordinated weekly design presentation materials, ensuring clear communication of design progress and consistent alignment with the overall project vision.
Clarendon West is a multi‑phase redevelopment that redefines a key area of Arlington by introducing three contemporary residential buildings that align with the Clarendon Sector Plan and strengthen the urban fabric between Rosslyn and Ballston. Phase I, The Earl, comprises two U‑shaped buildings organized around landscaped courtyards, with a six‑story red‑brick structure addressing the residential neighborhood and an eleven‑story grey‑brick counterpart offering expansive views and a rooftop pool. Phase II, Alexan Fitzroy, anchors a prominent triangular site with a tiered massing that rises from six to eleven stories, featuring a striking glass‑centered façade along Washington Boulevard and ground‑level residential access along 13th Street. Across all phases, carefully composed brick masonry, recessed balconies, and varied massing create depth and visual interest, while green roofs support the project’s LEED Gold certification. Together, the buildings establish a modern residential standard and contribute to a cohesive, pedestrian‑oriented urban environment within Clarendon.
