The 2 Patterson Street NE development is a mixed‑use residential and arts complex that integrates 405 units with a vibrant cultural program anchored by City Dance and Step Afrika!, organized around an active public realm featuring an Arts Lane, Black Box Theater, studios, academic spaces, and a social lobby. Upper residential levels are arranged around north and south courtyards to maximize light and air, while the roof level offers a rich amenity environment with a pool, fitness and game rooms, community garden, and expansive terraces. As a Design Architect, I supported the Senior Designer in developing the concept for this RFP submission, assisting with architectural design, digital modeling, and production of the presentation package. I created multiple design options exploring massing, residential layouts, and the integration of arts program elements, helping refine a cohesive architectural vision that communicated the project’s urban presence and mixed‑use identity to the developer team.

Riverside Apartments is a 28‑acre residential community in Alexandria’s Old Town corridor undergoing a major expansion of an existing 1970s development composed of three high‑rise towers totaling 1,222 units. The proposed master plan introduces five new residential buildings with 950 units, 20,000 square feet of amenity space, and a new leasing office, reorganizing the site into a series of walkable urban blocks. A new street grid and interconnected circulation network improve accessibility, while landscaped open spaces and tree‑lined streets establish the character of a mature neighborhood. The five buildings are carefully positioned and scaled to mediate between the existing towers and the surrounding context, using subtle massing geometry, a streamlined material palette, and a cohesive architectural language to create a balanced yet distinct identity for each block.
